St. Phoebe Day

Do you know St. Phoebe? In the Letter to the Romans, St. Paul commends St. Phoebe to the Christian community in Rome, introduces her as a deacon (diakonos) of the church at Cenchreae, and asks that they “receive her in the Lord” (Romans 16:1-3). 

On Wednesday, September 3, we honour St. Phoebe, the Deacon with sung Evening Prayer followed by a community social before we participate in the virtual gathering with Discerning Deacons, joining communities around the world to celebrate St. Phoebe and the good news of our new Church teaching elevating women’s leadership in the Final Document of the Synod on Synodality!
